🌪️ Severe Weather & Tornadoes

Bloomington is in a high-risk area for tornadoes.

  1. Seek Shelter: There’s no basement, so go to one of the bathrooms.
  2. Protect Yourself: Cover your head with your arms, a blanket, or a mattress.
  3. Stay Informed: Monitor local weather apps or a NOAA weather radio. Do not leave shelter until the “All Clear” is given.

🔥 Fire & Evacuation

  1. Evacuate the building immediately.
  2. Account for Everyone: Ensure all family members/residents are present. Do not re-enter until cleared by authorities.

🛠️ Utility Failures

Gas Leak (Smell of Rotten Eggs)

  • Stop: Do not turn on lights, use phones, or create any sparks inside.
  • Leave: Evacuate everyone from the building immediately.
  • Report: Call the gas company and 911 from a safe distance outside.

Water Leak / Pipe Burst

  1. Locate the Main Water Shut-off Valve.
    • Location: Next to the washer/dryer
  2. Close the valve: turn a round handle clockwise until tight, or turn a lever a quarter turn.
  3. Message your hosts right away.

  2. First Aid:
    • First Aid Kit: Under the living room TV
  3. Guide Paramedics: Station someone at the main entrance to wave down the ambulance.
